Fassbender takes the Creed

I don’t consider myself much of a film buff, but I like to think I know a bit about the medium by proxy. I listen to Filmspotting and a few other (less stoic) movie podcasts, so even if I don’t make it out to see the latest art house flick I usually know at least a little about the buzz on it.

So partly through osmosis, I have a healthy respect for Michael Fassbender. I was pretty pleased to learn that he’d be playing a role in an Assassin’s Creed movie, though the announcement is a bit on the vague side. I have to assume he’d play Desmond and/or Ezio, but I think I’d almost prefer an original character. They could still tie it to the Desmond plotline — he has plenty of relatives after all — but just seeing the same story repeated doesn’t really excite me. Even if I would love to see people’s reaction if they imitated the ending of AC2.

It will rely quite a bit on the script, so I’ll hold my excitement for now. Still, it’s a hell of a good start.

  • We decided to forgo the Diary format and close my thoughts on Skyrim’s “Dawnguard” DLC with a Field Report. This is more focused on the gameplay mechanics than the story.
  • The Band of Brothers: Furious 4 trailer at E3 last year looked pretty silly, and maybe even a bit out of place, but I’m still curious to see what the heck it is.
